Wichita Area Technical College (WATC) hosted Wichita’s inaugural participation in National Manufacturing Day on October 4, 2013. The event brought more than 200 students and educators from Wichita Public Schools for a day of hands-on participation and exploration at WATC’s main campus, the National Center for Aviation Training (NCAT).  Manufacturing Day seeks to addresses common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers and educators an opportunity to open their doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is — and what it isn’t. By working together during and after Manufacturing Day, manufacturers will begin to address the skilled labor shortage they face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry. - See more at: http://watc.edu/blog/2013/09/30/watc-to-host-first-manufacturing-day-in-kansas-bringing-200-attendees/
